I plan on teaching students between kindergarten and second grade. I would like to work with this age level because from past experience, I have discovered that this is the age level that I most enjoy. I also want to help prepare children for their years of schooling ahead of them. Since these grade levels are so young, the content area is rather general. I would be able to teach lessons having to do with science, reading, writing, math and art. This is also appealing to me because my classroom would constantly be interesting and eventful. In my newsletter I wrote a letter pretending I already was a first grade teacher. The newsletter was designed for the parents of my students, asking them for permission to allow my students to go on a fieldtrip to the local zoo. The letter explained how the first month of school we would focus on the broad variety of animals; bringing in relevant “show and tell”, art projects, guest speakers, and a visit to the library, all to help teach children about zoo animals. I believe this lesson plan is a learner centered activity because the children would be very interested in all the activities we do so they would be more likely to pay attention to the information being taught. This is a lesson plan that would be very likely for me to teach in the future when I have my own classroom.

ETPT-2020 Blog

So far, I have discovered that integrating technology in the classroom is a very useful way to teach students information. Not only is it easier to access more information, but teachers can cover topics at a faster rate benefiting students. Students will be learning information in a classroom setting, but also develope technology skills that are valuable in a career. Through the use of e-mail and blogs, students can be more confident in their writing and not intimidated in asking their teacher questions through technology. I support technology being integrated into the classroom becasue i think that lessons would be taught in a faster more efficient rate and the students in our country would become more educated.
